Almost 25 years ago I hired on to a small company that did a very difficult job in a potentially huge market. In just a few years I was able to help double the revenue and create a customer service that has been my trademark for years. After about 5 years I started my own company which grew to the largest residential contract floor preparation company in California. I have concerned myself with the satisfaction of each client. I have also worked hard at keeping a solid core of employees that have been loyal and supportive even when they have gone on to other careers.
About 15 years ago my general manager/partner and I wanted to get into work that was more creative and less dependant on new construction. We settled on concrete coatings of all sorts. We set out training with manufacturers, studying trade references, making thousands of samples and settled on what we felt were the best products on the market. We have enjoyed great success and still work hard to satisfy our customers.
There is no substitute for experience. The decorative concrete coating industry has grown and changed greatly in the last 10 years. It takes experience and investigation to use the right products and installation procedures for the right circumstances and clients. After 15 years agressively researching, testing and installing literally hundreds of floors we have the experience to know what works and what does not.
After several years growing a company I wanted to get back to doing the work myself. I have found that this work requires a skill and dedication that is difficult to acheive by employees. Most of the best in this industry are small independant contactors who are highly skilled and care about their reputation. I work on each project and install all decorative floors. This keeps the quality high and consistant and keeps things simple and managable for the things that are most important to my clients and myself.
